　　自2010年10月起，杭州市政府與中國美術學院攜手舉辦國際紋樣創意設計大賽及邀請展，專注于紋樣的文化傳播與解讀。至2024年，大賽已成功舉辦十二屆，吸引全球設計師參賽，與三十余所國內外院校開展合作，并受到三十余家國內外媒體的廣泛關注。
　　大賽設立國際評審團，在國際紋樣設計聯盟和產業顧問的指導下，涵蓋紡織、服裝、工業造型、建筑等領域，圍繞紋樣創意的產品設計與藝術表達。作為專業平臺，大賽致力于發掘設計創新型人才，深化紋樣與產業、品牌的設計互動，進一步推動本土原創的核心價值。
　　紋樣作為中國民俗文化傳承的重要載體，是融合抽象形象、應用形式和載體的樣式化視覺符號。大賽通過國際化的交流及傳播，重塑紋樣設計的價值與內涵，實現傳承、原創與傳播的三位一體，打造連接現代設計、傳統文化與工藝的專業平臺。
　　國際紋樣創意設計大賽分為展覽、邀請展與學術研討會三部分。面向全球征稿，要求參賽作品從紋樣創意視角、當代設計方法出發，強調生活中尋常物的嬗變及其符號特征。作為子項目的國際紋樣文化解讀研討會每年舉辦一期，邀請國內外專家學者就各民族紋樣的文化、形式、應用及活化展開專題討論，進一步推動紋樣研究在現代設計與文化解釋學中的深度實踐。
　　Since October 2010,the Hangzhou Municipal Government and the China Academy of Art(CAA)have jointly organized the International Creative Pattern Design Competition(ICPDC)and Invitational Exhibition,focusing on the cultural dissemination and interpretation of patterns.By 2024,the competition has successfully held its 12th edition,attracting designers from around the world,collaborating with more than 30 domestic and international institutions,and garnering widespread attention from over 30 media outlets.
　　An international panel of judges,guided by the International Pattern Design Alliance and industry advisors,steers the competition—which spans fields such as textiles,apparel,industrial design,and architecture—and centers on the creative expression and product design of patterns.As a professional platform,the competition is dedicated to discovering innovative design talent,deepening the interactive relationship between patterns and industry/brand design,and further promoting the core value of local originality.
　　Patterns,as a vital carrier for the transmission of Chinese folk culture,are stylized visual symbols that integrate abstract imagery,functional forms,and diverse carriers.Through international exchange and dissemination,the competition aims to redefine the value and connotation of pattern design,achieving an integrated approach to heritage,originality,and communication,while establishing a professional platform that connects contemporary design with traditional culture and craftsmanship.

The ICPDC unfolds in three parts:an exhibition,an invitational exhibition,and an international seminar.Open to submissions worldwide,the competition calls for works that explore pattern creativity through a contemporary design lens,emphasizing the transformation and symbolic characteristics of everyday objects.As one sub-event of the competition,the International Seminar on the Cultural Interpretation of Creative Patterns is held annually,inviting experts and scholars from home and abroad to discuss the culture,form,application,and revitalization of ethnic patterns—thereby further advancing the deep practice of pattern research within modern design and cultural hermeneutics.
